Liverpool is one of the North West’s two core cities and principal regional economic drivers. It has a population of 436,000 people and is a major employment centre, with 13,200 businesses and some 226,000 jobs.  Of these 87,000 are taken up by commuters from the Liverpool City region, an area of 2 million people, 70,000 businesses and 1 million jobs.
