X Factor’s Rebecca Ferguson headlines Liverpool line-up to light up the city at Liverpool One
X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson joined up-and-coming acts to officially launch Christmas in Liverpool last night.
Liverpool One celebrated the launch of its festivities with a local line-up of talent.
The event on Paradise Place, which was headlined by singer Rebecca, featured a host of Merseyside talent including Wavertree teenager Chelcee Grimes and former busker Zara.
The crowd then got out their song sheets, which were printed in the Liverpool Daily Post’s sister paper, the Liverpool ECHO, and joined in a mass sing-along to Christmas classic, Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town’ with Rebecca leading the way. Donna Howitt, marketing director at Liverpool One, said: “We are thrilled with last night’s event and the response from the crowd was brilliant.
“This year we really wanted to showcase the amazing talent we have in Liverpool.
“Rebecca was an obvious choice for us and Chelcee and Zara were a fantastic addition. All of our acts really made the most of their opportunity to shine.
“It was wonderful to see such a great Christmas show at Liverpool One with so much home-grown talent taking to the stage.”
Rebecca kept people entertained, despite the chilly November temperatures, with her own material including her debut single, Nothing’s Real But Love.
The mother-of-two also spent time with her fans and children from Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
The evening also saw the launch of Christmas in the Park, which is now open on Chavasse Park.
The cast of the Cinderella Rock and Roll Panto and performers from Jennifer Ellison’s Fame Academy got shoppers into the Christmas spirit with Radio DJ Dave Kelly.
The festive family fun includes skating on Liverpool One’s real ice rink, a trip to Santa’s Grotto and post-shopping drinks in the new Polar Bar.
