World Class Orchestra comes to New Culture Centre in Knowsley
The award-winning Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra is upping sticks and coming to Knowsley. The world famous orchestra is performing a concert of hit songs from West End musicals at the new Knowsley Leisure and Cultural Park on Friday February 24, at 7.30pm.
A Touch of the West End features hits from shows, including Les Miserables, Cats, Evita, Chicago and Phantom of the Opera. The concert is conducted by Anthony Gabriele with singers Rachel Barrel, Annalisa Rossi, Glyn Kerslake and Ian MacLarnon.
It is the first time the orchestra has played at the culture park in Longview Drive in Huyton which has facilities for an 850 seat performance space. The centre boasts the latest stage, sound and lighting effects and yet tickets for the performance are just £12 for adults and £10 for children and concessions.
Michael Eakin, Chief Executive of Liverpool Philharmonic, said: “We’ve been playing at venues in Knowsley every year for the past 10 years. It’s very important to us to perform in the community across the city region, so as many people as possible can hear music of the highest quality. Not everyone is able to get to our home in the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool and we’re delighted to be making our debut in this new venue.”
Knowsley Leisure and Culture Park opened late last year and offers the latest in sporting facilities, including a wide range of classes and two swimming pools. But it also has a beauty and leisure spa, adult day care classes and a fully equipped theatre space.
“We’ve invested to create the very best centre for leisure and cultural events,” said Cllr Eddie Connor, Knowsley’s cabinet member for Leisure Community and Culture.
“The cultural facilities are second to none and can provide a venue for both local community groups and world class artists. This concert is a chance to see an internationally renowned orchestra right here on our doorsteps.”
There is a bar at the leisure and cultural park on the night of performances and lots of free parking.
