Voting starts for Liverpool Food & Drink Festival Awards 2011
Voting has officially started for the prestigious Liverpool Food and Drink Festival Awards 2011.
Now in their fourth year, the event celebrates the very best restaurants, bars, producers and hotels around the city and all of the eleven winners are voted for directly by the public. The awards, which are organised by SK Events, are the culmination of the week-long food and drink festival, which starts in Sefton Park on September 3 and 4.
Guests in their hundreds will be invited to the awards ceremony on September 12, where they will celebrate the city’s culinary talent in the industrial chic setting of the A Foundation, in the heart of Liverpool's Baltic Triangle. They will be treated to a selection of drink as they arrive including Dark and Stormy cocktails made by the events drink sponsor Beers Cellars. Guests will then feast on a luxurious picnic themed three course dinner with a twist featuring exquisite food from Rhubarb & Custard Catering, served by students at the prestigious DeVere Academy of Hospitality.
The entertainment at the awards will be provided in the form of exclusive spectacular performance from Liverpool soul band ‘The Christians’, who are great friends of the festival.
Denise Harris, MD of SK Events, said: “These awards are a highlight on Liverpool’s food and drink calendar and they are the only industry awards in the city that are voted for by the public. We really wanted to let people tell us what their favourite restaurants, bars, drinking holes, customer service and child friendly eateries are and for them to be recognised in such a big celebration. It’s a chance for them to get the recognition they deserve.
“For this year’s event, the combination of the quirky venue, carefully crafted menu and celebrity musical accompaniment will create a unique experience that will give a new meaning to celebrating the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival Awards.”
Categories for the 2011 awards include Liverpool’s Favourite Producer, Favourite Independent Cafe/Coffee Shop, Liverpool’s Favourite Restaurant and Liverpool Favourite Bar or Pub. This year’s awards have secured sponsorship support from Merseyside based, Brown Turner Ross Solicitors.
Dave Bushell, Managing Director of Brown Turner Ross, said: “We are delighted to be associated as a key sponsor with the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival Awards. The recent and ongoing regeneration of Liverpool City Region’s tourism and leisure sector has seen enormous increased competition for restaurateurs, meaning that independent operators are pushing for the highest of standards of excellence. We have no doubt that the awards this year will recognise this fact, and we are proud to be supporting what has become a highlight of the year for the industry.”
MD of Rhubarb & Custard Catering, Steven Burgess, added: “As a company, it’s extremely important for us to be associated with the Liverpool Food & Drink Festival 2011 Awards as it’s an opportunity to recognise what the city has to offer. Liverpool is continuing to impress as a vibrant culinary metropolitan and the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival and the awards have helped to deliver that message over the past few years.”
