Iliad wins approval for Liverpool scheme
Iliad's plans for a 262-bedroom student accommodation scheme in the Ropewalks area of Liverpool have been granted planning consent.
The designs by Formroom Architects also include onsite management facilities, 28 under-croft parking spaces and communal student facilities such as a common room and launderette.
The site is an area of grassed open space formerly occupied by the original St Michael’s Church. The replacement church and church hall with associated memorial gardens are located to the western side of the site with the Grenville Street Youth Centre to the south.
“This project sets a new standard in student accommodation,” said Formroom’s managing director Tim Groom. “The creative design of the scheme, along with the incorporation of quality construction materials, offers a new type of better-quality accommodation for students.
“We also wanted to incorporate the inherent confidence and personality of the city of Liverpool, so there’s a real playful element to the building that will make it the talking point of the area.”
