Dolly Parton to help Liverpool children improve reading skills

Dolly Parton helps launch the Reading Village and Imagination DOLLY Parton has joined forces with a group of Liverpool charities to help local children interested in books and reading.

Dolly’s Imagination Library operates in the USA, Canada and the UK, giving children a new book every month from birth until age five.

The project aims to increase the school readiness of participating children, and inspire love of reading in their families. Dolly’s Imagination Library is now part of the Liverpool Reading Village, delivered in Everton by LCVS/United Way, with support from the Reader Organisation.

Fresh from her gig at the Echo Arena last week, the country and western star said: “We will be working 9 to 5, and beyond, to make sure we do all we can to inspire as many kids as possible to love books and to love reading.”
