South Liverpool Strategic Regeneration Framework published
A steering group comprising Liverpool City Council, Liverpool Vision, HCA and NWDA have prepared a Strategic Regeneration Framework (SRF) for the South Liverpool International Gateway.
The Gateway is broadly recognised as the area following the main southern arterial route (A561) Speke Boulevard extending from the Mersey Wave to Garston Docks and includes the communities of Speke, Garston, Garston under Bridge and Hunts Cross. (See map attached below)
In preparing the SRF a detailed evidence base was put together including an area analysis, planning review, economic assessment, infrastructure report and review of the demand and supply of the employment land in the area. It was also subject to extensive consultation with land owners, businesses and residents in the area to help inform how the Gateway should develop over the next 20 years.

South Liverpool International gateway will be the focal point for major economic and residential development in South Liverpool ,offering the quality of environment and infrastructure that enables the businesses and communities of Speke, Garston and Hunts Cross to achieve their full potential. ”
The framework not only focuses upon the current economic contributions of the area including Liverpool John Lennon Airport but also considers the future potential of business development including office, light industrial, storage and distribution. Andrew continues:
“The framework will ensure Liverpool’s International Gateway continues to develop and contribute positively to the economic growth of the City Region and compliment other developments across the city.”
