New Liverpool Embassy sponsorship package for SMEs

New Liverpool Embassy sponsorship package for SMEs

Liverpool’s Embassy in London will give small and medium size companies a prestigious platform on which to grow their businesses.

A new, lower cost entry level package at just £1000 will ensure that smaller companies do not miss out on the opportunity to use the high quality facilities to do business in the capital.

“Our smaller businesses are vital to the Merseyside economy and we want to make sure they reap the rewards of our new vision for the city region – including the Liverpool Embassy,” said Cllr Joe Anderson, Leader of Liverpool City Council.

“This is a fantastic demonstration of the public sector responding to the needs of private enterprise and I want companies of all sizes to benefit from the opportunities which will be created as a result. Our Embassy is hard evidence that the public and the private sector in Liverpool are serious about working together to attract investment and create more private sector jobs.

The Liverpool Embassy, at New Broad Street House close to Liverpool Street, EC2, and the financial district, is being set up following the success of Liverpool’s presence at the World Expo in Shanghai last year. It will showcase the vision to continue to develop Liverpool as a business-friendly and innovative city to invest in.

Max Steinberg, Chief Executive of Liverpool Vision, which is partnering the City Council and Downtown Liverpool in Business to deliver the project, said: “We knew that businesses in the city wanted this kind of showcase – and they are now beginning to get behind us.

“I urge more to do the same, because together and only together can we make a tangible and lasting difference to Liverpool.

“This is an encouraging demonstration of the way the private sector is working with the public sector in Liverpool to create a city which can beat the recession and move forward with real optimism.”

Guy Wallis, Partner at respected Liverpool law firm DWF, who came up with the idea for the Embassy, said: “There remains a widely held perception in other areas of the UK that Liverpool is not open for business. This has to change and it can start in the South East with the Liverpool Embassy.

“The city’s business leaders should be in London to explain what they do and how successful their businesses are with the goal of encouraging people, who might not otherwise have thought of doing so, to take a serious interest in Liverpool as a place to do business. Liverpool excels in a number of areas and this message needs to be pushed continually and relentlessly, by those who are leading our business offer.”

The Embassy continues the momentum of success for the city which began with city centre and waterfront regeneration; and continued with the impact of the Capital of Culture and most recently the city’s Pavilion at the World Expo in China. It is the latest major initiative of the city's 'One Plan', a new vision for the city, which aims to draw on the strengths, resources and expertise of the public and private sector to sell the city nationally and internationally.

One of the next major projects is a series of 'Investment Open Days'. There will also be a series of high-profile events to mobilise the support of politicians, business leaders, academics, venture capitalists, and journalists; and a senior Liverpool presence at the MIPIM event in Cannes in March.
